Curious what stores draw in such a learned group of consumers...mine are:

Regular haunts:
Bergdorf Men's (when I have money)
Neiman Marcus in Atlanta (great staff, Keith is helpful)
Louis Boston (wish I had an apartment there actually-good food as well)
Stanley Korshak in Dallas
Edward Green in London (small jewelbox of a store)
Berluti in Milan (London and Paris is also tops but the prices were good here and the staff is friendly and charismatic)
Tincati in Milan
Wilkes Bashford in SF (depends a bit on who helps you, tasteful selection)

Budget:
Kohl's and Target for basics
Occasionally spot a deal at Off Fifth Avenue or NM Last Call

I don't really have a favorite store but my favorite mall by far is King of Prussia, by far. The Leesburg Corner outlet mall in Virginia is pretty good too.

For the mere atmosphere, Corthay's workshop and adjoining "sales room" in Paris. All other stores feel hermetic and sanitized in comparison. I do like how I was allowed to browse for almost half an hour without anyone asking me constantly if I needed help at L'Uomo in Montreal, recently. I sort of have a fondness for the Galeries Lafayette's mess and heat on a busy Paris Saturday afternoon. You can't beat that dome.

Strictly from an aesthetic and not goods perspective:

Lattanzi in Rome
Ede & Ravenscroft in London
Fortnum & Mason in London
Edward Green in London
Polo Mansion in NYC

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
