Personally I don't wear Aldens or Kiton, because they're not available here, well anything that's real. I buy my jeans at supermarket, because at least there the quality is consistent and more important they fit me properly.

There's a hell of a lot of places selling jeans here, usually they're too small, as it's Chinese sizes, weird distressing and/or styling, or are just simply awful and may only last a few weeks. It quite surprised me what they will try and pass off as "Levi 501s", but then most people here have never seen a real pair.of 501s.

On my top ten list, it's nearly all Chinese brands which are available locally.

I was speaking more in generalizations about MCers, but point taken. Environment heavily influences choices.

I feel your pain. Clothes cut for the Asian body often don't fit me. If I get one w/ a proper fitting neck then the arms are too short. Find one w/ the right length sleeve and the neck is too big. The shoes are too small, and many of them are elevator style having an overly high heel. Pants have a way too high rise. The "decoration" applied to just about everything... and excessive branding. I had better luck going to shops that sold clothes for the export market, but Inner Mongolia is far from the coastal trade zones.

You'd think the American men on SF, at least, would take it as a point of local pride to know something about jeans as well as about soft shoulders and the barchetta shapes of the tailors of Naples.

That's why I often shop at the menswear concession in the Dekelong supermarket. Because they usually have a good selection of things that I like, nothing too weird, overly branded, sizing is OK, quality seems to be consistent, pricing is good as well.

It's the clothing markets that gets me, there's like hundreds of stalls all selling pretty much the same things, usually hideous misspelled knock-offs of PPR and LVMH brands, very poorly made as well. It's the shear quantity of this stuff, almost like there's many more clothes than there are people to buy them. I've heard it all comes by truck from Beijing every six weeks, don't know what happens to all the unsold dreck after new stock arrives. One might see a certain style of jacket, most of the stalls have it, within six weeks it's gone and they have something else, but only a very few are wearing it. At the moment they all seem to have these garish shiny polyester suits and horrid gaudy shirts because of the forthcoming Spring Festival.

That's a good list, Gus. Given how rarely it's warm in SF, let alone hot, I have focused on 3-season (really, 4-season here) weights. I would like to get into some frescos and linens, though. Maybe next year...

Not going into brand specifics, but the ethos is for more texture and casual fabrics/colours - at the moment I'm a little biased towards autumn.

    1. Brown Patch Pocket SC
    2. Blue OCBD
    3. White Point Collar Dress Shirt
    4. Gingham Sport Shirt - Blue or Black & White
    5. Grey Merino V-Neck Sweater
    6. Mid Grey Trousers - Seasonal Fabric
    7. Khaki or Green Casual Trousers (cords, moleskin)
    8. Dark Jeans
    9. Chocolate Brown Suede Wingtips
    10. # 8 Cordovan Cap Toe Boots

Note these 'staple' essentials that anchor the outfits - belts, ties, undies, pocket squares are secondary and not listed :nodding:
