Would you agree, though, that the 19s are very much an "of the moment" kind of cut? I like the way they look - not my style, even though ayn/Rye etc. do it really well - but they seem to be a purposeful exaggeration of you might call a classic taper. It's hard to keep track of all the damn changes to the 501 cut throughout their history, but I'd also guess that on the model you have, the leg opening widens as the waist increases in size, which 19s do not (right?).

you know, im not sure if the hem gets bigger on diors as the waist does... if not wouldnt that make the jeans a different fit thru the size range? i do know rye said vintage orange tab 505 fit exactly like doir....

either way, the diors is a very "of the moment" cut... but would be very classic with a few minor changes (top button, angled yoke/no dart, reasonalbe inseam length for the height of the person wearing them.)

Vine Hills/Hollywood Dell is what most people call it. The hill between Beachwood and the Bowl.

the hem definitely gets bigger as the waist does.

No, the cuts scale. The names are something of a misnomer; I think they're only actually accurate on the 30s or the 32s, but I can't remember which. If the hem didn't scale, they'd change drastically in cut depending on your size.
