1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Good read, but while it's been a while I don't remember it the S & M part.

Finished The Power Broker. Goddamn that was incredible. Moses got away with murder. Going to read The Life and Death of Great American Cities, naturally. I read half of it a while ago, going to read it all from the start now.

British drug trafficker gets nabbed in Bolivia and spends several years in a strange, corrupt prison where you have to buy a room and drugs are freely available. Some darker moments with gangsters and evil guards etc. Very fun read.

^ reminds me of the Nat Geo show .. was it "Locked Up Abroad" or something like that? 95% of the time it's some dumb Aussie with 2 kilos of H either taped to his torso or stuffed up his ass trying to make it out of Thailand. My goodness a Thai prison might sound preferable to a Bolivian one… who knows. Looks interesting though, I may check it out.

I don't think I posted this yet… if so my apologies, but I tore through this in a couple days so my guess is no. Somewhat of a real-life "Ocean's Eleven" type of set up… except this is the most massive diamond heist in history and it really happened (it might even say that on the cover). And yes, if not for those meddling kids, they would have gotten away with it.

Just finished Knausgaard's My Struggle: Book One. Not sure I want to plow through the others. I think I'm ready for something different.

Have you guys read (I think the movie may be more popular) Midnight Express? Same deal: 1970 American Billy Hayes is caught trying to smuggle a couple of pounds of hash at the Istanbul airport and is sentenced to life in a Turkish prison. You can guess the rest....(escapes after a few years)

This prison had more cocaine and less raping (aka "Turkish Delight").

ME would no doubt be a stellar read tho. Good call.

I gave both the book and the movie a valiant effort but both left me completely flummoxed by their popularity.

Just got America's Bank (signed copy no less) in the mail. Not sure when I'll be in the mood to crack it open.

Started this a couple of days ago. I expect I'll finish it tonight. It's pretty interesting and not really what I expected.
