It's embarassing, but I'm finally reading The Clash of Civilizations, five years late. What would be a good follow-up?

the road is good for the first 100 pages, but after rereading it I have to say that it is no where near his best.

I just reread blindness again.. very good. I need to pick up some more books.

I am currently reading "Applied Economics", by Thomas Sowell

What a vague title. How long is it, about 80,000 pages?

Murakami - South of the Border, West of the Sun
John Phillips - The Marquis de Sade (A Very Short Introduction)

Murakami becomes more infuriating the more you read him. It feels like he is always rehashing the same themes, drawing on the same sentimental material, and drawing the same roughly-sketched, confused male protagonists. But despite it all, it draws you in, chews you, and spits you out a little different than you were before, like no other writer does.

    By Night in Chile---Roberto Bolano

just finished Mount Analogue by Rene Daumal-----hilarious, fiercely smart; something Voltaire may have written if he were interested in notions of identity and mysticism

I finished All the Pretty Horses and started The Crossing a few days ago. I really didn't think I would like All the Pretty Horses, but I loved it.
