That's a beautiful cabinet and an enviable collection my friend!!

Thanks!
How’s the Hirsch? I have a bottle that I’ve yet to open. Still irked I passed on getting a bottle of the 20.

So, I bought the 16 beacause I'm from PA and visited Schaefferstown when I was a kid. I don't understand the crazy allure of this bourbon. I used to do tastings with Hirsch 16, Pappy 20, one or two BTAC and the old Black Maple Hill 16 Limited. The BMH always won for me, when tasting blind. No one every picked the Hirsch, but some picked the Pappy. I think the BTACs tended to be the favorites. I've never even seen a bottle of A.H. Hirsch 20.

Often counterfeit also. But same whisky non the less. Just different age statements some tanked some actually aged

I think both the bottles I bought are from back when no one cared enough to bother.

Scotch is one of the few spirits I can't stomach, at all. I love bourbon, but haven't been able to develop a taste for Scotch--I thought I was going to puke the last time I had it, and it was my first drink of the evening.

Currently having, or have had many of those in my own collection I have to say, one of my favorites in that lot is the GlenDronach 12. Absolute beast. Have you had the Allardice 18 and/or Parliament 21? Well worth the money imo.

Glendronach is catching on but still underrated by far. The 12 and 18 are both excellent and great values (relatively). The 15 is the sweet spot for me. Love that stuff.

Never had the 15, it is unfortunately not supplied where I reside.

Thanks for the opinion. Never tried either. Will give the 12 a go at my next restock

Pick a less peaty blended scotch like Monkey Shoulder. And—I’m about to get flamed by the scotch lovers in this thread—try it in a cocktail. One of my go-to drinks is a version of a scotch old fashioned: 2 oz. scotch, 1 oz. St. Germain, 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir and serve over a big block of ice.
