Marlborough NZ Pinot Noir completely different in character and taste to Otago region. Laid back and good with food and obligatory rugby.

4th July needs a great American wine, so I tried this cabernet from the now defunct "Merus". I bought this on release, and cellared it at 49oF (by mistake, my temp setting was 57!). The cork is "like new"! The wine was quite exotic, but still needs a few more years. The wine maker, Mark Herold, now has another brand.

Once again, I'll be in Tijuana on August 20th. While I'm there I'll probably have nothing stronger than Coca-Cola.

But that's just me.

Ordered a half dozen secret selection from a supplier only clue was it’s a NZ Pino at a remarkable price.

Big surprise when it turned out to be Kim Crawford Limited Release Central Otago Pino Noir 2015.

had some people over at our july sublet for some tamales and tacos in the back garden. a friend brought over some naked lady brand tequila that was lying around (apparently her sister had too much tequila and she happens to be pregnant and has no use for it). we had some (delicious) lowbrow palomas with squirt soda. and then i realized it's kind of fancy stuff.

i'm no tequila expert, but it's super smooth without having a lot of character. i'm tempted just to make more cheap/expensive palomas with it.

Just finished my coffee, steeping some low quality Oolong now.

Gotta stop boozing so much in the evenings my suits are all too tight now.

Been drinking a lot of Palomas this summer but I’ve been adding a splash of Campari on top to cut some of the sweetness, really refreshing

Many bottles opened yesterday but this is a unicorn. Interestingly it was the most Scotch like bourbon I’ve ever tasted with distinct notes of salinity and peat.

I like the distilled at "a Distillery in Tennessee", which makes me wonder which one! There aren't many, especially since this one was made in 2003. Dickel maybe? I'd love to try this one, but tried the link above and don't see it offered anymore.
