Thoughts on the 25? The 18 is sooooooo good, and, I believe, sadly discontinued for the moment.
18 was replaced by the 15 LE iirc, no?

BTW, the Campari Cask Tales is soooooo good. Literally the best result you could imagine. Everything blends together so nicely.

I got tuned in to Spanish vermouth after a trip there this summer, and have been sampling the few that are available in my neck of the woods.

Yzaguirre Red makes an excellent negroni, if you like the herbal/bitter profile. Definitely going to make it into my rotation. Need to try it with a Manhattan next, think it'll be excellent for a fall/winter taste profile.

Update to this: the Yzaguirre Rojo makes an exceptional Boulevardier (with rye).

It wasn't outstanding in the Manhattan, I think I didn't find the right bitters to go along with it.

That 25yr is from 2009. It was a standout for the night, however the room was near 50/50 split between 25yr or 18yr.

I'm drinking Southern Comfort non-alcoholic eggnog. Thick, rich and tasty!

Yum!

Does anybody know anything about Brandy or Congacs? I’m looking for something pretty good as a gift for somebody who likes the stuff, but I’m lost in this space.

Remy XO is a nice baseline cognac. A nice calvados would make a nice, slightly left field gift for a brandy drinker also. Chateau du Breuil XO is good stuff.

If it’s for someone who knows cognacs, go for an Armagnac.

Delord and Sempe are fairly easy to find if you have anything like a specialty alcohol store. They can sometimes be cheaper than the larger brand cognacs but much better tasting.

Delord should range anywhere from as little as 40 to 125 with the things you may find on the lower end.

Sempe should be a little easier to find and slightly cheaper.

If you decide on cognac go for Delamain, you’ll look like a pro. Armagnac and Calvados are also good choices, as are Spanish brandies like Cardinal Mendoza or Lepanto which are affordable and easily found.

Yeah I was actually thinking an armagnac just because they seem more interesting on paper. But the Remy stuff is out as it is too common place. I'll take a look at Delord and Sempe.

Ive had both Bas-Armagnac and Tenareze and prefer the Tenareze but there arent as many producers, at least not that I have found that make it to the West Coast.

The 18 is my all-timer for scotch. A local store has a 25 (unsure of the year) that I'm tempted to get based solely on love for Laph.

I haven't drunk alcoholic beverages in years. I'll stick with the non-alcoholic eggnog, thank you.
