Took the easy way out tonight… a hefty pour of Don Q Crystal into a 20oz tumbler of lime, crushed ice and ginger beer.

Don't think I'm a fan of Punt e Mes. Too overpowering for most cocktails, much prefer cocchi/carpano Antica

Whoa… I hear you for sure, but there’s a time and a place. I like the herbal “brace” of Punt more than the kind of vanilla mellowness of Antica… sometimes.
But yeah, when in doubt… Cocci🕺🏻

Punt e Mes is brilliant in a Negroni and essential for Red Hooks. Just the Negroni variant makes it worth having from time to time.

It's not a daily driver for sure though.

My Negroni recipe is equal parts Beefeater gin, Cocchi Torino, and Select Aperitivo (a Venetian red aperitif that tastes halfway between Aperol and Campari). None of the components overpower the other two. Carpano Antica is great in a Manhattan because rye/bourbon is a strong spirit, but too much in a Negroni. And I side eye anyone who uses Hendrick's or Monkey 47 in a Negroni.

The cucumber notes in Hendrick's do not work in a Negroni. It's vile.

Hendrick's shines in a G&T. I can't think of any other cocktail where I would prefer it to a good London Dry.

Cracked this open tonight. Freaking amazing. One of the best, if not best, rums I’ve had.
