Baileys in coffee; yet another rum and eggnog (had to open a new bottle of rum, as last year's Christmas stock dried up); more cheap Chilean Cab-merlot

I'm drinking some rum/egg nog myself. A few family members are over to shoot some pool and hang out as we all just got back in town from school this week.

Been awhile since I posted in this thread. Here was what we had for dessert last night. Dessert was a selection of artisnal cheeses, poached pears, and nuts.

Having some leftover Castillo Silver rum--that my gf's roommate made her eggnog with--and coke, and a giant piece of lime. Man, this is some nasty rum... [IMG] After this drink I'm moving to some Glenlivet. [IMG]

Last night I was fortunate enough to enjoy a fantastic 37 year old single malt, but have lost the piece of paper I wrote the name on [IMG]

Well, to be quite honest I have not been impressed by the - admittedly few - artisanal French beers I have tried but I do like this one.

Yellow, by Yellowglen -- a cheap Aussie sparkling wine. Well, the in-laws are over, and I'll be damned if they are getting the Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin ... [IMG]

37 year? I bet it was Duncan Taylor. Go back a few pages and check out some of my pics of the bottle I partook in.

Had a few interesting bottles this weekend. Friday night we were at a friend's house (he and his wife are both vino-hounds too) and he had a 3L bottle of 1994 Mondavi Reserve. We decanted off so we could pour the darn stuff! It was an impressive wine, very old world style, restrained, smooth, black currant, faint smoke.

Saturday we have some friends over, including the same couple with the bottle above, and did a little cellar raiding of our own. We started off with a light little Italian bubbly, 2006 La Spinetta (Rivetti) Moscato d'Asti Vigneto Biancospino. We moved on to a Merlot, 2005 Pride Mountain. Huge fruit of currant and blackberry with vanilla. Soft tannins and lush ripe fruit sweetness. What a Merlot should be.

From there we moved over to spirits. Nothing special except I cracked a bottle of Remy XO.
