It was apparently created in Oregon less than 10 years ago so if your knowledge is based on classic cocktails it isn't suprising that you wouldn't have heard of it. I remember reading about it on Richard Morgenthaler's now-mostly-defunct-blog.

I really know nothing about cocktails, modern or classic. But I like it. And now I'm glad I have an official name. Any cocktail recommendations?

I have some Maker's Mark and ginger beer left over from the weekend. I'll be tossing those into a shaker with a couple dashes of Angostura for a revised Dark N Stormy (switching the rum out for bourbon).

A lot, but that's an exception, recently, I swear! Well, I promise. I'm drinking some unobstrusive Lager right now...before that some red wine from Northern Italy, was pretty bad actually (for a change).

Finally found my favorite (at least one of them) beer here in Santiago. Was delightful. [IMG]

Sailors didn't like it becuase it meant that they weren't getting pure rum. I'm sure they were just fine with the taste. Bourbon and lemonade for me. Actually, that one is more accurately a "what was I drinking".

    Glendfiddich 30 yo.

A sublime single malt. Drunk neat of course.

I'm now back into having a couple of drinks every night... until this runs out.

Is sublime peaty or no? I like the more challenging ones and was told Glenfiddich was easier to drink.

Not at all peaty. Glenfiddich is pretty easygoing in general, but the old ones have lots of nice complexity.

You don't like Cuban cigars but you like their rum I see. [IMG]

Laphroiag 10 CS Batch 001 - a little less sweet than I remember the pre-batch ones being. Still medicinal and delicious though.

You know it doesn't improve once it's bottled, right?
