Have a sore throat/cold just now so I had a hot toddy, made with blended whisky, set honey, juice of half a lemon and boiling water. It's surprisingly effective and much nicer than a Lemsip

"Between the sheets" (taken from Cocktail Virgin):

    0.75oz cognac (Remy Martin 1738)
    0.75oz rum (Ron Zacapa Centenario)
    0.75oz Cointreau
    0.75oz lemon Juice
    0.5oz simple syrup
    Garnish with lemon strip

Very good. To me, the rum adds that little bit of sugary complexity that I love in a cocktail. I have nothing against a true sidecar, but this suits me. No offense, Hunts [IMG] .

oh my god, one of my new favourites apparently. Darkest IPA ever, really hoppy, bitter, smells like vegetables, with a creaminess not found in most IPAs. Amazingly good, made me view beer in a new way.

Heck, it's not as if the Between the Sheets wasn't in Embury or something, and though being a classic cocktail isn't my bar for what a good cocktail should be, it certainly helps. But the best part about this drink is that it is good. Anyway, there is only one bartender on earth from whom I will order a sidecar, from whose creation the drink truly gives that which it promises; as she no longer works behind the stick, I'll never order it again. ~H

    Fan of the site too.
had "Jasmine" also from the website, yesterday.

Some of the cocktails use stuff I never heard of or know if available here. Its nice to find cocktails I can ask the bartender at my regular bar to make for me.

I am usually unable to make most recipes on that site as I lack orgeat syrup, Dubonnet, etc. When I am able to make one, it is usually superb.

Thomas Hardy rye. Such a joy. Sweet and spicy, so much power and raw rye taste.

I seem to remember this being relatively cheap (I don't keep great records on my wines), but it's really not bad. I'm enjoying the flavor, though I'm wishing it had a little something more...maybe a heavier texture or a bit more open flavor. Certainly fulfills its duties as a "Tuesday night watching Law and Order" wine.

Not a cocktail, but for some... marinating some cherries in Luxardo Maraschino and some in Creme de Violette.

Hey Roikins, how goes the cherries?

I started some around 5 days ago...1 part sugar syrup to 3 parts Luxardo Maraschino.
