k, because it's a tall drink and mint is very strong, I'd go with a straight-ahead gin -- so Plymouth, which is what I use. I think Hendrick's is too subtle, and the botanicals in Sapphire (which is my G&T gin) just too much. Beef, to me, is like Plymouth, but cheaper. No, I don't have either North Shore, but in a week I expect to spend a very, very, very brief night in Chicago (maybe too late to even try Violet Hour), and I will look when I'm there -- was going to start a threak on best Chicago liquor stores....unless you know, that is.

I had many of these over the last few days. Many. I mean, really, a lot. They were great! A new drink to add to the summer rotation.

    This weekend I drank:

    Tequila & Mezcal:
Casa Noble - Extra Anejo and Single Barrel
Patron Anejo (not too bad, but over priced)
    Del Maguey Minero Mezcal
    Del Maguey Tobala Mezcal

    Bourbon:
    Pappy 20 and 23
    G. T. Stagg 2006
    Sazerac 18 2004
    Hudson Baby Bourbon
Hudson New York Corn Whiskey (this was awesome, tasted like liquefied alcoholic corn bread)

    Whisk(e)y:
Amrut Fusion (Supposedly the third best whiskey in the world last year, I don't see it though. It wasn't bad, nor was it mind blowing)
    Talisker 25 2008
    Laphroaig 30
    Laphroaig 10 CS
    Glenfarcals 105 and 1974
    Oban 18
    Brora 1981/2001 (Douglas Laing)
Ardbeg Rollercoaster (not as fun as the name implies)

    Beer:
Growlers of everything on tap at this place: http://www.townhallbrewery.com/
Special mention for the Scotch Ale, Imperial Ale and the Mango Mama (IPA with mangos)

I have been drinking a lot of Aperol lately too. Great after-work pick-me-up.

Wow. Just wow. A tasting, I presume?

Glad you are enjoying them! It's a good drink. Try it with basil sometime if you want to be adventurous. ~ H

Bombay and Tonic. It's so nice to have good alcohol, instead of college alcohol.

The scotch was a tasting that I put on for some friends, the bourbon was at my brother's house over the course of a long afternoon and the tequila and beer was at a big Tex-mex BBQ that we went to. It was a fun weekend. My favorite was the tasting that I did, I love watching people's reaction to different scotches.

Dark Horse Crooked Tree IPA. Outstanding. First time I have ever had this one.

I have not been able to find that one as well as Stone Ruination, which is upsetting.
