Had a bottle of Zin, Pellegrini or something, with dinner at our favorite place. I picked it because the chef is from NOLA originally and they had a gumbo special.

Now, same manhattan as last night. Damn that Cask 16 makes a nice one.

Home roasted micro-lot Grade-A Kona coffee from a stellar farm on Purple Mountain (Kona's answer to Jamaica's Blue Mountain).

It's a beautiful cup but *very* mood specific -- it's so nuanced and delicate that a measure of attentiveness is required for full appreciation. This is a super-low acid coffee, and has lovely notes of wine, wet earth, unsweetened cocoa, and a hint of stone fruit.

A cheap but well-tasting Cabernet Sauvignon. (of South American provenience).

<shudders to think you needed it> I am doing a write-on and am flagging. So hard to find the time when you work all day. ~ H

For a Law Review? In addition to work and school? Why?

In my experience, the part-timers with jobs already have a distinct advantage over the the full-time-just-graduated-from-college folk. You sure you need to drive yourself crazy with law review as well?

Oh, drinking Laphroaig 18 now. More powerful flavors than the old 15, but I don't think I like it more.

No, I'm not sure. I'm not even doing it for a better looking resume come job-seeking time as that is sewn up. I'm doing it because I want to teach someday. Always been my dream to retire early and teach. Though I admit that right now it's killing me. ~ H

In downtown Bangkok, a quick Guinness and a JW Black Label sitting in a street bar's verandah before we have to go inside for the nightly curfew
