Just had a CC Shery Cask Aged and Vya manhattan.

Have a Spanish Grenache for dinner (wife making these incredible steaks with port and cambazola reduction sauce).

I think I shall be hard pressed to maintain my 4 cocktail limit tonight.

Four cocktail limit? Hope you have some large glasses.

    Drinking this tonight:

I was impressed with the Four Grain, so wanted to diversify. This one is even better. It's a young whiskey that's actually aged in 3 gallon casks (normal is over 50 gallon), with a very nice, mainly corn mashbill. The Four Grain was good, but this one's fantastic. S tiny bit pricey for a bourbon though, at $50 for a 375 ml bottle. Well worth it though.

So, here's the manhattan fixings and the wine for dinner:

And here's my favorite gin for my G&T tonight, and now I'm having a wee dram as you can see:

Well, went to a cooking class today with/for my wife. One of the things we made, was prickly pear syrup. So, I made us some prickly pear margaritas today, with Muchote tequila.

Had a nice, 2005 Cab. Sav. for dinner. Don't even try to find it; you can't. Mailing list only:

Oh, and what did I have to eat with dinner? Do I hear, "Quack!"?

    GREASED LIGHTNING
    2oz Canadian whisky (Canadian Club)
    0.5oz Saint Germain
    0.5oz Lemon Juice
    0.25oz Simple Syrup (Sugar water)
1 dash Fee Bro's Peach Bitters
    1 dash Angostura Bitters

Sorry if this already has a name. I name it Greased Lightning because I was watching Grease with my wife when I made it for the first time. It is actually a very good cocktail.

    Coke.

Dinner tonight while on a business trip in Wilmington. Had hoped to dine at Domaine Hudson, restaurant and wine bar of our very own Cuffthis, but it was (reasonably as I later found) closed on Sundays.

Long story short this was a short notice trip and I actually picked a hotel based on proximity to DH (I really just wanted to walk) but Google was wrong (this does happen) and I'm at an awful chain in nowheresville. I very nearly took my jeans back in the car on the way to dinner just in case someone broke in. So there I was outside Tom's restaurant in a Kilgour suit wondering where I can get some decent food in DE, and remember the Hotel duPont. Yes, that duPont. This is Wilmington, afterall. Incredibly opulent and beautiful. Sat at the bar as the incredible dining room was all but silent, had a decent Manhattan with seared foie over cinnamon brioche, followed by rabbit and corn soup with morels (dried and reconstituted, but still my favorite dish), then veal and scallops in a Port reduction with black trumpets (good fungus there) with a glass of '95 Ch. Simard (not the best choice but Simard does really late releases and I had wanted to try). Dessert was amaretto and white chocolate Napolean with coffee.

Now I sit in bumblefuckville with this faint and peculiar yet familiar rhythmic thumping on one side and a couple arguing in Spanish on the other. The barman at the duPont said I should just get a room there for like $150 and not come back here, and let me tell you, if I had listened to my instincts and took my garment bag with me I would have ponied my own $150 for the room and not come back to this dump. I'll be sleeping in my jeans tonight, and if it was more than one night I'd already be on the road back,

    Delaware is weird.

YW. The lime adds, doesn't it?

    Cabreras almost finished.

While not a smoker, this always makes me sad.

Partida straight; the only tequila I actually savor drinking by itself.
