Went to my in-laws new home and brought a bottle of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel as a gift. My brother-in-law, father-in-law and I drank it all while sitting on the veranda during a heavy rainfall. It was heavenly!

I had some cachaca brought back from Brazil a few weeks ago. I couldn't quite figure out the taste. It was somewhere between a tequila and a whiskey to me. Do people just drink it straight up or mix it?

It's most commonly found in a caipirinha. That's the only way I've been able to drink. Peru has a similar spirit called Pisco that while people may drink it straight, it tastes a hell of a lot better in the form of a pisco sour.

I see. We were taking shots, straight up. It wasn't as bad as, say, tequila (not saying anything bad about tequila, but I hate drinking it). I even liked the aftertaste.

If you're into shooting exotic booze, try finding some stuff called Aguardiente. Very popular in Colombia. Only 29% but people will order it by the bottle at a bar/club and sit there shooting it in clear dixie cups with a water back. Doesn't taste awful and does the trick.

Decided to have an introduction to brandy last night, since it's one of the few spirits I haven't tried yet. Picked up this bottle by suggestion of a friend:

That stuff sounds like a bad mistake, but we'll see. [IMG]
