2001 Chehelam pinot noir. Very smooth, great cherry/berry nose, smooth jammy berries on the tongue. Drink now.

Have you been into wines forever, or is there a relatively recent thing? I am having a hard time getting into them. There's just such a vast amount of things to try, it's kind of daunting.

Don't be daunted. Just drink all the different types of wine you can, at all the price points you can. Try them with all the different food pairings you can. Get Wine Spectator and just read...but don't buy into the hype. And this 2001 is opening up very nicely! Silky smooth tannins, great structure. Good earlier effort by the winery! Some bricking though. Drink now for sure.

My mother-in-law is in town this week. She is extremely helpful and polite and, in fact, possesses many of the good qualities that an in-law often does. Whenever a newspaper or pair of shoes is out-of-place, she eagerly informs me and regularly keeps me so informed. I am also made acutely aware of the effects of the consumption of whiskey, and reminded how intolerably rude it is to become drunk in her presence. In order to return the favor I thought it helpful to let her know the best way to deal with my drunkenness is the same way I deal with her politeness, that being drinking.

You know the difference between in-laws and outlaws?

    Outlaws are wanted.

Sort of want a G&T but no lime. Then again, G&T is perfectly drinkable sans lime...
