I want to thank participants in this thread for turning me on to tiki drinks. I bought the Smuggler's Cove book and the whole history and culture is fascinating. Oh, and the drinks are pretty good too!
One thing to remember is that this is all bullshit escapism. Just have fun and if anyone gives you shit about "real" tiki just let em have their moment.
Also pickup Beachbum Berry Remixed and Modern Tiki.

I think the fact that the whole culture is manufactured escapism is fascinating.

Postwar white America was certainly something.

Love J-Tree. Kinda’ funny to think of Martinis there. Palm Springs ok, but J-Tree...? Anyway, last of the batched Boulevardier, with a side of Russell’s. Prepping for Padres game.

Martinis at Josh just seem like the perfect Valley Girl thing. It’s been so long since I’ve climbed there that best I can imagine is ice cold bottles of Sierra Nevada...

Also, trying some Mezcal my buddy brought me back from Oaxaca. Said it was the hands-down best of the 50 or so he tried, which weren’t smoke bombs... The nose on this thing was pure petrol, but I’ll be damned it was smooth as all hell.

Thats really good stuff. Arroqueno is always good. And most legit mezcal isn't actually that smoky.
