Good stuff. Even the standard Four Roses is pretty tasty to me, and insanely friendly on the wallet.

I'm a big Four Roses guy, so was pretty stoked when my friend showed up with it.

I'm in Wicker Park in Chicago about to go on a bender. Suggestions on places to drink, both highbrow and lowbrow, appreciated.

Been drinking a lot of bourbon for the last several months and doing mainly manhattans. The interplay between different vermouths and bourbons is very noticeable. Noilly Prat is still my go to but Antiqua Formula is stellar with some bourbons.

This is probably a gimmick but a company calling themselves "Orphan Barrel" has some good bottlings. The concept is they find lots of well aged barrels and buy them direct from the rickhouse. Forged Oak 15, Barterhouse 20, and Rhetoric 23. With the Rhetoric they are setting out a certain amount of bottles from this lot every year so there's 20-25 but I landed the 23. Anyway, tried them all and all quite nice.

Been collecting a bottle here and there like this. Buffalo Trace and Bulleit are my mainstays. Gentleman Jack is very interesting and well priced for a handle. It has a distinctive banana note to it.

So, been drinking more bourbon than ever before the last several months.
