As for me - willful ignorance and lack of curiosity.

+1. I'm sure you'll see one as the weather turns, Mike. I see one a week or so.

in the short term, having a great trip planned and afraid that right before going, me or the wife will get really sick where it affects the vacation. or that one of us will get into an accident that affects the trip

in the larger scheme, a big ass 9.0 earthquake, the "big one"

Interestingly enough I love being in small, tight boxes.

My biggest fear is anything happening to my family and I also have a constant dream where I can't run. Not sure how I can explain it, in the dreams there is a situation where I need to run and I just can't. I wake up in a sweat.

Yeah, I still like those, too...

My own fears of something happening to my family and/or friends used to be a constant presence in my psyche. When I finally figured out that there is little if anything I can do to affect that my life became much easier to cope with.

Maybe it's time to find a better building. I have never seen a cockroach in any of the buildings I've ever lived in. And thank God for that. When I was in the rainforest I saw some cockroach-like bugs. Wouldn't be surprised if they were in the same genus. Thankfully, they remained outdoors, although i did find a beetle the size of my thumb in the bathroom one morning. Outside they don't bother me at all, but in my space, they freak me out.

Oh, female bodybuilders are not to be feared. If any heavily-muscled he-woman comes flexing at you, just tell her she's looking a bit soft and ask if she's retaining water again. She might get all HULK-SMASH on you but it's far more likely that she'll start weeping and curse her hormones.

Actually you can say the same about people who are sexually attached to Rachel Maddow.
