Trini, thanks for the hook. I'd just found that elsewhere online and was coming back to post it when i found you'd beaten me to it.

I'm going to see if i can track down Geller in NYC. Autumn Winter 08 isn't soooo long ago, right?

^Those are pretty close, but something seems more 80s than 60s. I think Baron has something closer. Maybe he'll see this and chime in.

Looks like Marcello's don't have "horns" but the eyeframe is flush with the arm at the hinge.

good point, Parker. i think part of the subtle joy of MM's frames is how softly angular they are. The side and top of the front of the frames seem to join in the photos i've seen online and what you've posted above.

Parker tipped me off to this thread. I have a pair of Cutler & Gross model 0889, as seen here: [IMG] They have a few models with the same general vibe, worth checking out.

good looking specs, Baron. the Cutler and Gross site is useless. i shouldn't have trouble finding those particular frames to check out. does anyone have a reference for online C&G?

I'd be interested to know the maker of MM's sunglasses as well.

    Persol.
For a photoessay on Persol see:

Full disclosure: I own a pair of Persol folding reading glasses.

I have a pair similar to those from Bodenstock.
They're probably 15 years old. They were "dated"
when I got them, but then I am usually a few years ahead.

Do you mean Rodenstock? I've seen some great pairs from them, but many models walk a fine line between cool and 88 year old man glasses.

Sadly, the Rodenstock website is also useless. It's a shame that there's not a better way to track frames from season to season etc.

Black Eyewear has a frame that approximates the vibe: Bird. The bridge is clearly different, but nice. http://www.blackeyewear.co.uk/glasses/ seen below at retrospecs: [IMG] I tried Moscot in NYC and they found for me for horned rims but nothing approximating the Marcello frames. The hunt continues.

Bumping this thread. Now that the sun is starting to shine I'm looking to get the sunglasses he wears. I don't like the Prada one's b/c they have that silver "prada" logo on the side.

Anyone know of a brand that are very similar, but no logo?

    Thanks
