What about the salesperson's age?

When you shop for attire, how does the salesperson's apparent age affect your reaction (trust and such)? Relative to your age or in absolute terms. Also, how does gender interact with age? Besides visually preferring young saleswomen.

At least it's a fresh topic.

If they are:

a.) Of legal age
b.) The opposite sex
c.) Decently attractive

Then I try to make plans to "interact" with them.

I judge based on their dress

As do most who have a clue, probably. But if the salesperson seems very young or of a different age group from the customer, maybe he or she wouldn't know what is best for the customer?

I was turned off by the sales associate who helped me at my local Brooks Brothers store the other day once I noticed his ill-fitting suit still had the white thread holding his coat tail together...

Salespeople I see in menswear stores, nearly always early-mid 20s female, usually very attractive. I have no problem with that.

The gender or age of a salesperson matters not to me. What matters is that they have done their homework. I'll respect any salesperson who admits to not knowing over one who guesses or lies. Knowledge, straigt-forwardness, honesty and sincerety is what will make a favourable impression on me and most likely to earn my dollar.

Yup mostly shop in real stores. Online can be a bit of a crapshoot sometimes. Like when one orders Levi 501s from Taobao, but what arrives looks nothing like what I know as Levi 501s, fortunately returns are quite easy though. But it can take a while to get credited on returns.

You mean you DON'T Spoo?! How else do you get your amazing steals to resell? :stirpot:

When you become a platinum top rated seller on eBay, things just materialize out of the ethos and land in your listing queue. Its one of the many bonuses of their program.

So, what you're trying to tell us is that you're kind of a big deal... :)

The actual responses are appreciated, but there aren't many and they defy typical psychology. Age generally does influence judgments, if not style expertise assessments specifically. People should check themselves in case they're reacting in subtle ways without realizing it.
