In my opinion Silvano Lattanzi is way up there among the best Italian brands. I have two bespoke pairs and they are sublime.

I also like Berluti for more casual and avant garde events but the construction is not in the same league although very good.

Matt can chime in here with some other quality brands from Naples and Florence.

That shoe in the Amedeo line is now available on Yoox at quite a discount.

$478 in brown and $538 in Red. However it is not in the Norvegese construction. So the raised welt stitching is not visible. And the brown is a rich mid brown not dark oak like your picture.

I just received the red shoe (they call it Maroon) yesterday.

Go to Yoox.com and use the coupon PERFECTGIFT@YOOX as a coupon code when you check out. Also Yoox posts both the US size and the UK size for you. I find a 1/2 size up for US is better than the 1 size up from UK they use. I ordered my normal UK size and probably shouldn't have. If I would have ordered my US size, I would have been buying 1/2 size down from my normal UK size and that would probably be perfect.

Enjoy,
Perry

Not really. Nicely constructed shoes. But the thinner leather doesn't look as good as other Italian, european and english shoes. Nice shoes nonetheless and probably worth the mid to hi 400s that they would cost at Yoox.

I do really like the red (maroon) shoe, but the brown version is a bit cheaper.

I wasn't that impressed by A. Testoni. I compared to the top line Sutor Mantellassi, and thought they simply were better made and looking.

I picked up a pair of A. Testoni Black Labels on my August trip to Paris. Didn't know anything about the brand when I ran into it since I was so focused on getting C&Js, of which, both stores were closed for the Frenchies' month long August holiday.

Saw some beautiful chiseled wingtip derbies in black in the store window, walked in, and ended up with a pair in "cocoa", and they're definitely one of my nicer shoes. Got nothing but great things to say about them. I didn't know how much they cost in the U.S., otherwise I would have bought them in black too.

Quick question about size on the Amadeo line, so a 7 UK is really a 8.5 US? Or am I missing something here.
