What’s a good bag (not a backpack) to use to carry a 16 inch laptop

One habit from my undergrad days was that I’d simply take my laptop and one big notebook for all my classes that week, then transfer the notes from each class into smaller notebooks at the end of the week.
I did this by carrying them under my arm as I felt a backpack was unnecessary.

What would be a good bag to buy and please give me some brand names to check out. I am 25 and am working in an environment that is business casual. Willing to pay extra for quality.

You have to provide a budget. Bags can be thousands of dollars. If that’s what you mean by “pay extra” you have to be specific.

Frank Clegg, Lotuff, and La Portegna (just 3 that come to mind) make good leather briefcases that are well within your budget.

You should ask them about whether their standard briefcases will fit your laptop. In my experience the Macbook Pro 16" (if that's what you have) fits in most bags sized to fit 15" laptops but always better to check.

Check out Filson for something a little more rugged yet acceptable for biz casual

even if not shopping retail go to Staples catalogue. They sell many brands and you may get an idea there (accessible, different designs in one place easy to scan by eye).

I recommend the rolling 2-wheel large laptop bag by Briggs and Riley. I have a monster 17 inch Lenovo that fits it and I like the 2-wheel bag because I think it is more rugged. I wheel mine through large messed up parking lots and it takes a fair beating. No issues. The bag has a lifetime warranty too.
