my wife and I dance to a lot of WS when we go to rockabilly clubs

I dig the old stuff like Bob Wills of course...Spade Cooley, Tennessee Ernie Ford. Not wholly western swing but Sid King's tunes from the 50s are definitely in the ballpark and some of my faves.

Lot of great modern bands that play the old sounds even using vintage equipement to completely replicate the sound as close as possible. check out The Lucky Stars, Smiths Ranch Boys, Dave and Deke Combo for starters....but tons of good modern bands that sound straight out of 1949

Ray Condo, yea that guy f'ing rocked....saw him a **** ton of times

I like some of it, but my wife LOVES western swing/hillbilly bop. I'm primarily into it because the groove is great to do some jitterbugging to, can't really listen to it if I'm not in the context of dancing to it

on a related style, you guys ever dig bands like Red Meat?

I have been on a pretty big country and western/western swing kick. Just picking up decent used stuff, and making playlists on pandora. I like some of Junior Browns stuff, though a lot of it is really just novelty songs.

on a slightly related note, my grandparents used to park cars before Bob Wills shows at Cains in Tulsa.

They played Roly Poly, one of my favorite, they have great harmony. That bass player looks just as wierd irl. The guitar player is their fiddle instructor.
