My search for a quality slim fit suit is over.
The Brooks Brothers Milano is an outstanding cut and I'm in love with the drape. It falls straight down without much taper on the sides, yet the body is perfect -not too big, not too slim. The skirt doesn't fan out and give an illusion of wide hips.
The RLBL Anthony cut is even more fitted, and I like how below the waist the jacket falls straight down instead of flaring out like most suits do. With a slightly broader shoulder fit, it almost looks like an upside down beaker for the science types.
I'm 5'6 and 155 lbs and wear a 38S. The RLBL Anthony cut ran one size too small for me, as 40S fits perfect. Both suits fit better IMO than other fused suits I've tried on (Hugo Boss Jam Sharp, DKNY, Z Zegna). Theory fits about the same as both suits I feel but is not the same quality in material. For both suits I do wish the jackets were just 1 inch shorter, as I like Jacket skirts that run short and make the legs look longer but that's nitpicking.
Neither store had the colors I was looking for, but I'm glad that I atleast know what kind of suit I'm looking to get, thanks to SF. Gonna try and see if I can find some on sale before buying full retail.
For those who are learning about different slim fit suit cuts and trying to decide what works for them, just wanted to pass along my experience with trying the suits on.
Without having stumbled into SF, I probably would have been stuck thinking that Men's Wearhouse was the right answer for finding a nice suit and made some mistakes with my money.
