Weird pant question (RLBL/Caruso)

After wearing pants for a long time, I have noticed that my RLBL pants not only wear and tear like other pants, but in this really weird way. Like little plastic threads/strings start popping up from around the beltline. I think this might have something to do with the construction since they are tabbed waists, not meant to be used with belts.

You can pull the little strings out, but they are popping up all over the place. Shoddy construction? What the hell is this?

Anyone with knowledge of Caruso that can shed light? Thanks.

+1, I just had this happen on Etro suit pants. Not only are they wierd, but they hurt if you get stuck with one of them

Always immensely disappointing to see a serious MetroStyles thread.

I've had this happen with a really cheap pair of suit pants. It comes from the waist size being too small. Size up.

Interesting. I think you might be right, the 31 waist is a bit too small for me (RLBL is a 7 drop). This could be it.

Then again, they certainly aren't cheap. Unless they are taking shortcuts during construction and marking up anyway.

This doesn't necessarily mean that RLBLs and Carusos are poorly made. To a certain degree, if you put enough stress on any item, you're going to damage it. Not saying it's definitely your fault, since I have no idea what your normal waist size is, but just because this happened doesn't mean that RL is taking shortcuts in construction.

Maybe a tailor can fix what damage has been done. I wouldn't pull out any strings, however. At the very least, you should have it let out a little bit.

A second question is - do all pants have these strange strings in the waist? Or only side-tabbed pants?

I'm not sure, but the pair of cheap suit pants that I have aren't side tabbed, and they still exhibit this same kind of damage.
