Wedding Suit - Shoe Colour Issue

Hi all,

Been reading this forum for a while getting lots of useful information.

I've bought a nice Paul Smith suit for my wedding which is taking place in Rome the end of this month, it's grey with hint of blue through it so I'm planning on wearing a white shirt, light blue tie and handkerchief.

So my issue - the suit has brown buttons which would suggest to me that brown shoes should be worn with it or am I wrong? Personally I think black shoes would be a lot more dressy but the guy in the store recommended brown shoes and belt. I suppose I could get the buttons changed to black...

Brown shoes = More fashion forward and European looking

Answer = Ask your future wife what she would prefer and do exactly that.

I'll give her both options and let her choose.

As a side note I'm going to put my groomsmen in navy suits with the same shirt and tie combination. But I wonder if I'm in brown should they also go brown hmm

Will definitely look better if all your groomsmen have the same shoe colour as you.
Not many people will notice but a lot will notice if a couple of your guys are different and stand out.

+1 to ask the future wife. I would add that black is the more classic combination and will also look better with your grey and their dark blue.

Tried on the suit with brown shoes yesterday and the bride to be wasn't too keen so going to pick up a nice pair of black shoes today. Half thinking of going for a pair of Paul Smith ones.

The groomsmen are all going to be in black shoes also.

Depends to me how saturated the brown is. A duller brown sound perfect, but if it's very saturated I lean to black.

Go for a dark chocolate brown instead of black. I wore the shoes below for my wedding, with a similar grey glenplaid suit with a hint of blue, solid navy tie. Could lead to an unharmonious start to the marraige. The wedding is for the bride - the groom should go with the flow - as nearly as he can determine it.

Ethier black or dark brown would be excellent. My color preference would vary more due to the location than the color of the suit, simply because ethier would look fine.
