Wedding suit brainstorming

Hello all, I've come to SF to get some opinions (all strong, I'm sure!) about a possible suit I'm considering for my wedding. First off I must caveat that while I looked at some really fantastic suits, the cost of them were prohibitive. For what it's worth, our wedding is small and as inexpensive as we can make it- we're traveling for 2 months on our honeymoon, and then buying a house when we return so our money, we feel is better invested elsewhere. The wedding is outdoors in June. The suit that I feel would fit me well (with proper tailoring of course. I have a fantastic tailor too.) fit my budget and fit the setting is made by Banana Republic (ghasps!, I know):
I'd like to pair it with these shoes:
A white, French cuffed shirt, very pale pink pocket square (to match the tie) and this tie:
So I'm generally looking for what I hope will be some constructive criticism that will help me perfect my getup or switch it around to yield the best results.. Thanks in advance. -J

if you have a good tailor it will be fine. Good luck with the wedding! Mine is this summer as well. My heart goes out to you.

I assume that you have run all of this by the bride?

haha. This is the most important. hahahaha. Could be between a gorgeous Attolini suit and a zoot suit from the corner market. if the bride wants you in the zoot suit...youre wearing the zoot suit.

And that is the beauty of Black Tie. It just works.

Good lord, if she wanted me in a Zoot, well I'm not sure we'd be together!

She's totally on board with whatever I choose so long as she is the star of the show... Ultimately that means no colored shirts and no crazy shoes.

Suffice it to say, I think that my above choices aren't radical. I'm just more concerned about the tie and the suit- my though is that the pink might be too light and lost against the suit and that I might need to choose a darker lavender instead...

Agree. Like the shoes, but you can do much better on the tie. It's your wedding - get a killer tie.

Cheap, really?

It's a $150 Burberry tie... That's pretty pricey, no? Then again "looking cheap" is another thing all together...

So what ties would y'all pair with the suit?

Meh the burberry pattern doesn't get a lot of love here. It seems to scream "look at me I like buying expensive burberry stuff!"

Get a wedding tie. I saw a RLPL wedding tie (kind of like a glen plaid pattern) going for under $50 on eBay

suit'll be fine, nice shoes, right idea with the tie but wrong execution (expensive for the wrong reasons and will look VERY dated even in 5-10 years).

PS - don't mistake my question, what color's your complexion? If you're white and pasty at all then that suit color may not work for you.

Sorry, the tie I don't like. It may be expensive but Burberry check is just horrible. If you want a check pattern, go for a glen plaid.

Don't match the pocket square to your tie it will look tacky. The tie and pocket square should contrast in both colour and texture.

With respect to the tie- I was hoping to do something with a bit of color. As it's a June event and outdoors amid a lot of lush greens I had wanted to stay away from blue or green but certainly if I find the right pattern I'm not opposed to any other color. I've found in the past that pinks and lavenders work very well with me.

Also, we're not having a wedding party so no coordination will be necessary and my bride is wearing a stunning ivory dress with very clean lines and no lace or other ornamentation.

My complexion is an olive-ish with dark brown hair and more hard-edged, or defined features... I'm 5'11" and about 140 lbs, athletic, 31" waist and a 38 short jacket. And if you want to know any more, someone's gonna need to buy me a drink!
