Hi all, I'm attending a wedding next week and wanted to get your opinion on the outfit:

Suit: Brooks Brothers 1818 navy: https://www.brooksbrothers.com/Rege...ar_MK00829_Color=GREY&contentpos=37&cgid=0216

Shirt: Brooks Brothers white shirt

Shoes: Allen Edmonds Mahogany Shoes: https://www.allenedmonds.com/sale/mens-sale/shoes-boots/fifth-avenue-cap-toe-oxford/SF5705B.html

Tie: Kent Wang Grenadine Steel Blue tie: https://www.kentwang.com/grenadine-steel-blue.html

Pocket Square: Kent Wang The Great wave: https://www.kentwang.com/the-great-wave.html

My main concern is the plain white shirt/tie combo. The steel blue looks like it should slightly contrast against the navy suit/white shirt (not my photo, copied from the KW website to show the contrast against a navy jacket: https://www.kentwang.com/media/cata...54bf05fc598f/1/5/15636161484_fd94e2f5ea_b.jpg), and the pocket square should give the pop, but is this outfit too subdued?

I'm looking to stay classy but not be too boring!

My $.02 is that it is a little boring!

So what. Be boring. You’re a guest and not the main event. I think a lighter colored tie to slightly contrast with the jacket would be better but navy grenadine is fine too.

Thank you for your feedback. If I was to swap the tie color, is there a better recommended color grenadine tie: https://www.kentwang.com/ties/grenadine

Or should I skip the grenadine tie all together and go for something with a pattern since the suit and shirt are plain?

If it needs to be a Wang grenadine, consider the sky blue one. More contrast and a good color for the season.

If you are interested in more “classic,” and it sounds as if you are not, I see he has a gray Prince of Wales, and shepherd’s checks in black/white and navy/white. Great year round classic patterns but perhaps too subdued to your liking which, of course, is fine.

When I’m wearing my SF approved navy suit/white shirt/black stitch caps uniform I’ll sometimes swap out my shepherd’s check for my Sam Hober solid silver grenadine. Great looking tie.

Enjoy the wedding!

Seems like a nice, classic look to me. Like @Phileas Fogg said, you're a guest not the main event. If it all fits well, you'll likely be one of the best dressed anyway.

don't overthink this........it's not rocket science. I'd do black shoes personally, but everything you've laid out is fine. Enjoy!
