Wedding: Groom in very different color than groomsmen

I'm getting married in a few months and struggling with what to wear. I have the option of wearing the same suit as my groomsmen but I think I'd like to go with something that sets me apart a bit. This is what is currently planned for the rest of the wedding party:

Bridesmaids will be in slate gray/blue dresses.
Groomsmen will be in light khaki color 3 piece suits.
Bride in light cream dress.

This all obviously makes the wedding informal. I've read enough to know the general opinion of black suits on this forum, but I'm I crazy to think that a black 3 piece would work with the rest of the wedding party? I also have a medium charcoal 3 piece but I'm afraid it will clash slightly with the bridesmaids. Any thoughts? I'm only used to coordinating my own clothes...

Appreciate any feedback.

Here's the best advice I, or anyone else, can ever give you: DO NOT GET MARRIED.

+1

You never get to ******** with anyone else, but that's OK, because if it doesn't work out, she gets half your stuff. Wait . . .

What time of day is your wedding? A Morning Coat is always proper. Since the wedding is not formal, consider wearing a lounge suit (suit) or even a stroller. Ignore the other jackasses.

The wedding ceremony starts at 5:00 PM and is immediately followed by the reception on the same property.

By "ignore the other jackasses" did you mean those above or to not worry about what the groomsmen are wearing?

Thanks for the meaningful reply.

This "clashing" stuff is really overplayed (and I don't see how black would really be any better). Just wear the charcoal suit. If you actually want to get a new suit, a light grey 3-piece would also be great (assuming it's a summer wedding from the groomsmens' khaki suits etc.)

The wedding is in late spring. The only thing I'm worried about with the color closeness is how it will turn out in photos. I don't know why I hadn't thought of light gray for myself, we were considering it for the groomsmen at one point. That might work nicely.

Go for a cream suit with a bright white shirt, if you have balls, especially if you're black;

if not then, yea, just go for the light grey.

I was referring to the clowns in this thread. Gray is a better idea than khaki.

A light grey suit, maybe with a slight pattern, would be boss.

Might be the last time OP will be boss.
