Wearing your own band shirt

Let's say you're in a band and you have some band shirts. Is it acceptable to wear them, or is it considered poor taste?

Someone else has just posted this question on a metal forum where I post to pimp my bands and I'm curious how different the answers here will be.

I only wear a band shirt when I'm going to see that band live--that way the other people there will know I am a fan of that band.

Did you ever watch That 70s show? Mila Kunis, Jackie... she wears a shirt with her face on it. If you can pull of a character like her, you can do it and be cool too.

ALso, you're not too cool for your own band! It's not possible. Like pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps.

Sarcasm is a tricky art. I will try to be less subtle next time. Unless you are throwing it back at me, in which case, touchÃ

Best if you can get other people to wear your shirts around randomly in public. Many college students will wear almost any band shirt to class, to work, shopping, wherever. Though it helps if they are inexpensive.

Would you wear a picture of yourself on your shirt? Come on, what kind of question is this.

Haha, I think the root of the problem is that in some genres we are expected to act like it is, and therefore shameless self-promotion is looked down upon.

Wearing your own band's t-shirt is only acceptable when you're on tour and your run out of clean clothes.
