I have a new cotton navy blazer from Brooks Brothers. It has a patch pocket on the chest and flap pockets on the sides and is side vented. It has some structer in the shoulders.

Can I wear a tie with it if I am wearing a crisp oxford shirt? If so, should it be a more relaxed tie like a knit tie?

Or, ties are not worn with cotton blazers at all?

The sleeves are satin lined and the inside top has a natural flax looking lining. Also the jacket if not loose, frumpy or wrinckled like most cotton blazers. It's the chest patch pocket that sort of makes it look less formal. Otherwise, it has a nice, clean tailored look to it.

Of course you can wear a tie with it! I would suggest a "summery" tie with it as most congruent.

There are a lot of bright rep (stripe) ties in silk available now. Any of those would be ideal.

A knit tie is a perfect complement for cotton blazers. It's just right for a formal summer gathering.

A knit tie, even a madras tie would look great.
