I was disciplined this week for wearing Jedi robes to work. The dress code is smart casual and people wear jeans so i dont understand why my choice of clothes was inappropriate?

I would not be surprised somebody shows up to the meeting in jeans, but Jedi robe would be very impactful IMHO.
may be the same kind of impact as a secretary in a cat woman leather outfit.

Quite rightly. "Jedi robes" are fancy dress not "smart casual" by any stretch of the imagination.

You probably didn't have your hair done in the appropriate braids for your Jedi rank.

Either that, or your boss is a Sith.

Murky, the sartorial path is.

Remember, if your boss says that you can never use a jedi robe, he is a sith; only a sith deals in absolutes.

What was the discipline you received?
If it was having a hand lopped off by light sabre, much respect to your lord/overboss/organization.
Also, since we have not seen how sartorially proper your robes were, I cannot comment if punishment was jusified or not.

GodAtum, much to learn, have you. 'Smart casual' means wearing what the other slaves wear...if you are smart...meaning, if you know what is good for you. You were clipped for expressing freedom in an environment of slavery. How dare you awaken the other sheep. With such leadership qualities you could raise an army, and the wiener-flipping bosses cannot allow this. In their minds your robes translates into open rebellion. I admire your challenging of the rules however. They said 'Smart Casual' but did not specify which galaxy, mindset or time period. You must bide your time. Slow and sure are the ways of a Jedi. Live to fight another day. May the force be with you.

I think the Jedi would take the greatest exception to anyone characterizing their robes as "smart casual."

I love this thread.

By the way, GodAtum, if you fancy a change a career, you could be a door greeter.

It's friday.
The stupids are wearing jeans. I brought my casual outfit. No one will notice me.
