Wearing expensive shoes when drunk

I bought my first pair of expensive shoes (Darlton wingtips) and wore them to a wedding (sort of casual attire) and needless to say, they woke up a little banged up.

This is my first pair of cordovan shoes and was wondering exactly what I had to buy in order to remove the scars it has right now. Also, other stuff I'm gonna need along the way to have these shoes in top shape. If you could please provide a link, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't know how to fix them, but if you can't wear them when you're drunk what good are they anyhow?

I like to avoid wearing my more expensive shoes if I'm going out drinking. But most of the time if I have scratches or scuffs from the night before, they come out with a good polish. Wouldn't worry about it too much.

Darltons are great with some road wear on them. Hammer them with regular use and a solid polishing regimen...shoe trees a must, and they are full of WIN.

Don't polish them yet. Instead, (following in your illustrious namesake's path) freebase the big C, spill a little bit on shoes, then flick your Bic. This helps to "patinate" your new shoes. Photograph and post on SF. Repeat if necessary. You're welcome.

If you aren't going to smoke crack in your nicest shoes, why bother having them?

It's for this exact reason that savvy Senior Members switch from office pants to drunk pants at the end of a trying workday.

Changing from an office long tie to a drunk bow tie completes the look.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
