Wearing a white tie at Work?

I've been looking through my wardrobe after joining SF and I was taking a look at my tie collection. I was wondering when is it appropriate to wear a white tie (white tie with thick white strips on it). Is it even appropriate for work? or should it be kept for parties and wedding receptions?

- Also what shirt combination should I wear with it?

Thanks SF members

With a black shirt and a white suit. Make sure the suit pants are flared.

The fact that it also has white stripes makes me feel that this is probably a better way to go.

In germany jurist and lawyer wear white ties. It is a sign for innocence.

I think that wearing a white tie on a blue shirt is quite nice. Make sure that it is a nice blue, not too light.

Also, it helps if it is not a solid white tie, but patterned.
