I have no idea what a "boiler" is as headwear. That said, I have begun to wear fedoras in my dottage.

Maybe he means a bowler??

Ernest, if you buy a bowler, you must post a picture for us.. (On your head would be preferable.)

Aren't boilers a food industry term for a type of chicken? I like chicken. Preferably grilled with a nice glass of 1997 Pride cabernet franc.

I've taken to wearing my Panama hat when I'm out and about in sunny weather. I've not got much hair left on my head, and need to keep the nasty UV rays from frying my scalp. At first I felt a bit self conscious, but now it feels pretty natural. I'm probably going to buy a cheaper Panama hat to take with me when I travel.

In the winter, I've got a couple of Persian lamb envelope hats (one black, one brown) to keep my head and ears warm.

In that case, perhaps Alias could loan you one of his ski masks. I've always wished that gentlemen still wore hats outdoors. In old pictures, the men always look so elegant in their suits and hats. I love old pictures of baseball games where the stands are filled with men in suits, ties, and hats.

I know this is off topic, but what does "sacre bleu" mean? I know directly translated it means blue crown. But what's the significance?

I like it. I should wear both my Lock 'Coke' and boater more often. Perhaps now that the weather is improving, I can get my boater out more often Â

I would suggest either "good heavens" or "good grief" as translations for sacre bleu. MtB.

The mild French expletive sacre bleu, "holy blue," is a euphemism for sacre dieu, "holy God". (Writers. They think they know everything.
