being that i work a 9-5 job that requires me to do only about 30 minutes of work a day, i spend a lot of time on the board throughout the day. one thread i see pop up daily is how does this shoe brand fit compared to this shoe brand. i havent done a search on my idea as it just popped up but i think we'd benefit from one post saying how one brand/size/last fits compared to another. just start the system with the base being X (you'd choose your own size and width) and then just say thatand then go +/- . something along the lines of
AE
Lasts
0 (maybe a description here but then you have true to size true width)
1
2
3
4
5 (we would put long and narrow and then get a group consensus for sizing reccomendations)

32 round toe last
33 square toe version of the 32
202, adapted 32 to fit better
606 square toe version of 202
808 elegant square toe based on the 88 but did not fit well
89 developed for R.Lauren as a better fitting 808
888 bespoke looking last developed from 202 but longer and narrower toe box
82 round toe based on 888

Martegani

Tricker's

R
F fits one half larger than the U

so id basically be going through old threads and putting what i find in here and would definently be open to sizing information.

Edit: going to have to figure out a european sizing help too

I was just thinking the same thing, but I only have one pair of good shoes, so I can't provide any information (yet)

^wow, did you really have to requote the entire OP?

Great Idea, I think this will be very helpful! I suggest adding a second column with a list of comparables and adjustments to sizes (eg XYZ shoe - Description - will fit similar to ZXY shoe, but size up 1/2) Another idea (although could be a lot of work), could be to start adding up the number of each pair currently owned by people on the board, maybe set up a poll of sorts? So a new user can immediately see which are the most commonly chosen lasts.

I was online on my phone and realised I was too lazy to erase the irrelevant bits of quote.

It's an excellent idea, but I think we need to gather the data in the simplest way at first. Then we could worry about a spreadsheet/database/etc. My idea would be to keep it here rather than go externally - for now- and users submit something a single line of data like:

Bobbers, JL 7000: 11 E, Santoni: 11.5 D, Testoni: 11.5 D

The organizer would compile these data lines into post #1. So at first someone looking for a specific last could scan what other people already have and compare. When someone gets a new pair, they can make a note of their new last/size as a new post which would also tell the organizer can update their data line in post #1.

If we get enough people, we can load the data into a statistical program and generate stuff like {based on 10 people, average difference from JL 7000 to AE 5 is +0.6}.

I still think this is a good idea, let's not let this die.
