Once you get past a certain number of pairs (I'd say six!), it's a pain to put them all together for a group shot but I hope you do, Spoo!

This is correct. Id love to, but schlepping all those shoes down two flights of stairs, outside, etc... I just can't.... but you see them most every day here :embar:

Out of interest, how do you store them? In their boxes or all out on shelves or a mixture of both?

No boxes, thats too much hassle for me. They're on shelves.

I'm sure I do not have as many shoes as you but I can relate. I don't think there is enough room to spread them out for a single shot.

^^^^ Yes, Spoo has indeed perfected a iPhone angle that works well. ^^^^^^

I should make my wife take a picture of me taking that shot. I can't tell you how ridiculous it looks.

I'd pay money to see that!

Naturally for comic effect but more importantly to steal Spoo's technique for my own shots!

The RL shells need occasional application of venetian cream to keep them smooth and shining nicely. Brushing alone doesn't cut it :(

nephew,
what is your experience with rl shell in regard to the number of wearings before you would need to apply venetian cream. it is interesting because I assumed that all shell comes from horween

I think Horween's shell quality is a big difference but there is something to Alden's finishing treatment that I think really adds to the gloss. The secret of the treatment is probably protected as much as Coca-Cola's formula...

I would agree that the character of the shell on my one pair of Alden's is quite different from the shell on my Carminas and C&J.

The Alden's came to me from Uncle Mac and he said they have never been polished (only brushed). I've continuted to be able to maintain them with only brushing.

Try as I might, the Carmina and C&J Shell on the other hand never reached a shine with just brushing but have responded well to light polish and lot's of brushing.
