1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Thanks for the input guys: next time I'll use a Pratt-Shelby knot. Conclusion: the silk for most DuChamp ties is too thick for a full Windsor (let alone a quintuple Windsor).

I'm about to get the jacket vented. Just for interest here's the "non-window-paned" shades I was offered today (W. Bill, Sackville Street, London):

I am told vents don't need an exact match

Agree. Stop with the novelty knots, and the matching. I think you'd be better off concentrating on the basics for a while: fit, simple knots, and co-ordination.

A "quintuple Windsor variant" certainly is, and besides, your Full Windsors look oversized even before you go that far. With thick silks, it's usually pretty obvious in advance that a Full Windsor will look overly massive. I thought you were joking in your enthusiasm on the ridicuous Tie Knot thread, but seriously, do you actually think that any of the pictures of your knots here look good? I'm certainly not in favour of the total hegemony of the FiH, but as with a lot of 'rules', there are very few occasions when it isn't a better choice than any other knot.

Quintuple Windsor is fun but needs thin 'velvety' silk (you need to read Freud, or just try it out)
Full Windsor .. tis disappointing but would be offset against a traditional English shirt collar (raised and more substantial): the idea is to get a butterfly on the tie knot.

FIH I will give it a go...

I'll tie and photo later to show its elegance (methinks very similar but an improvement on the half Windsor). US In origin?
