Sorry, TWEEEEEDDDDD, but I must agree with Mr. Monkey. The first tie is particularly egregious. Also, in that picture, the lapels are too narrow, the double buttonhole is a pointless fashion move, and the stitching of the lapel is a bit vulgar. In all three looks, the pocket square is too prominent. If you want to show that much PS, then go for points or some other fold.

    GOOODDD MORRRNNNINGGG EVERYONE!

Egregious is a fitting term for this thread so I'm assuming you mean you LOVE the tie :nodding:

The lapel is actually 3 inches wide directly above the gorge (typically the widest point)...

Agree with the stitching and the second buttonhole, it's a very dandy-ish spring/summer feeling suit so I actually kinda like it, but yes it's definitely in your face... BUT when you say "pointless fashion move" come on, ALL THINGS PEACOCK and most things in menswear are pointless if your discussing design over function...Now that kleenex/tissues are common place PS's are all pointless, especially silk PS's. PS's originated so your cotton or linen hankerchief didn't get dirty from things in your pants pocket...

Anyways I hope everyone has a good labor day weekend! I have an idea that involves dusty pink chinos for a BBQ tomorrow...

    Good morning to you, TWEEEEEDDDDD.

The problem with the pick stitching is that it's machine made and emulating handwork. My thought on that is that if you're going to have machine stitching, it should look like machine stitching.

Technically, the PS has a purpose. To wipe your head or blow your nose. Not that anyone uses their $100 silk square for that, but it grew out of that purpose. There is a utilitarian background there.

The reason the second hole is pointless is because the first hole has a purpose -- to hold a boutonniere. The second one doesn't. The second buttonhole is completely a whim of the suit designer. Which is fine, but it doesn't hold historical context like other particulars of men's dress and therefore is just a fashion detail.

Have a great holiday weekend and enjoy your BBQ! Post the results of your pink chino idea.

It's a suit from nordstrom I picked up last summer on sale for sub $300, I'm surprised the pick stitching isnt drawn on to be honest haha.

Oh my gosh these are lush! I'm particularly partial to the 4th one down on the second photo.

#2 ain't that bad. Would be nicer if the print was smaller, though. Anyways, isn't this thread about peacocks? [IMG]

Great mix of menswear influenced tailored apparel for a woman. It's very cute on her.

My wife and I were just talking about this same look this morning. Tweed jackets on women with a tie :slayer:

PS- this would also look great with boots and trim jeans.
