1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Bris, where are you to moderate this thread? If any thread needs reigning in, its this one. Theres a very fine line between pea cocking and straight up raw fluorescent lit mistakes and bad taste. Lets be careful whats posted here to show that real pea cocking can look good, but not ultra tacky. Learn from my mistakes I posted on the first page.

Oh well you have done what few would have tried in that last pose. [IMG] You somehow matched the tie to the edge of the PS to that little sliver of argyle popping out.

Well the OP has said that there is to be no criticism in this thread:

I think 'critique' is perfectly valid, because the forum is about improving the way we dress, surely? What isn't worthwhile, and what I hope the OP was referring to, are dismissive and rude personal criticisms that aren't aimed at improvement at all.

It's possible that you're right, but I've basically held off on any specific or larger critical comments based on his suggestion. I do agree with Spoo's post.

I've tried to stick to specific praise and kept my criticism general except where the poster has clearly posted old things as an example of 'what I no longer do' (like Spoo).

I think we had a run there of people posting "here's a bunch of crazy stuff I used to wear before SF that I now concede is hideous" before Barims and Tirailleur1. This isn't my thread, but I think it could be better than just a repository for all the things that Manton has said are ugly or garish. Just eschewing the CBD rules and aesthetic doesn't mean that there can't be some OTHER aesthetic for this thread. In particular, more permissiveness for attention-grabbing dress, and without as much worry for seeming too contrived or vain.

How to peacock: Barims, Tirailleur, & TTO (maybe Butler, too).

Thank you. And yes, that decade and the 1960s and 1980s, also. The Peacock Revolution was pretty much the last real period of sustained and tasteful peacocking, I've long believed

Speaking of which: Bris, would it not be appropriate to do a couple of inspiration posts featuring archive photographs, rock 'n' rollers and the like?

It would be slightly off-topic given that it's a WAYWRN, but a little inspiration probably would get things going in the right direction.

What I meant was there should be no shooting of [true] peacocks in here, they are on the endangered list. Other birds are fair game :)

Close to peacock, I think, given the colour/pattern/contrast combination but perhaps not quite there so spoiler-coding it pending (dis)approval:

I think we can self moderate here so when I see a peacock I will just say "bingo!" or something.
