    This would be interesting. This thread appears to be discussion-less, for the most part, which is fine; it is a useful repository of highly-liked fits. But (social constructivist) learning comes from discussion and debate, not through imitating or rote.

    i am fairly sure, no i am sure, clags would like more discussion here. the issue is most of these fits had discussion when they were posted in WAYWRN. so any idea to bolster discussions here are good imo.

    I'll put on my professor hat then. When we want to spur discussion we ask questions, or we ask for people to pose questions. Good questions are hard to answer and require analysis, synthesis, or both. Looking at something like Bloom's Taxonomy as a guide, things around the analysis and evaluating levels would be ideal.
    As an example, one could ask: "what general themes appear in highly-liked fits?
    The problem with that question is that there are some obvious answers that few here would learn from; it is the finer details that are more interesting. So, perhaps: "What themes appear only in highly-liked fits?" would be better, since it ensures that responses filter out things that often appear in sub-20 fits.
    The obvious problem though, is that this presupposes that those fits not in here are sub-optimal and those in here are optimal.

    An alternative approach could be: "what aspect of the fits most recently posted surprises you regarding their popularity?"
    This makes people surface their assumptions about what they see as poorly done when others see it as well done. It is when these tacit assumptions are made explicit that we learn.

    All this assumes that we want to learn, of course.

    edit: what Elio said.

    So, to make the discussion a bit sharper, let's discuss in each batch which fit does infact not belong here and why.... [IMG]

    @Academic2

    I'd worry about a separate thread being the source of people who are upset by not making it. I don't want to encourage thumb counting! Still, such a thread while unlikely to promote edification might make for entertainment.

    My thought was that a moderators of the post, beginning with Claghorn as thread originator but Stitches too (both are posting summary threads) and perhaps a few others Claghorn deputizes can throw up one per batch or so for discussion: a post that didn't make it but was interesting, different, excellent etc. No one can lobby for their own post unless they want to lobby for one of the Claghorn's and Stitches.

    I had thought about a 20 thumb thread a while ago that would be more discussion oriented. This isn't a criticism of this thread which I look forward to so I don't have to cull through WAYWRN, but I think a little more conversation might be nice. But up to the OP.

    I think I will now be reading Seajen's post with a British (English?) Accent. Seajen, I wonder if those questions are too general for now (agree with having clear questions).

    While I like Elio's idea, probably would have to pick on a long-time poster with good humor, and criticisms would have to be done without rancor. We might start with promoting worthy fits. The question then is: why is this a worthy fit?

    I'm a professor. I use fancy words, preferably with more than 3 syllables.

    I don't think so. They were all around 18/19 when I went through the first time.

    I think that might be one of my favorites of Kulata's. Striped tie, brown pants, high contrast buttons. [IMG]
