    Cheers gents.

I managed to score three borrelli 7-folds off ebay for a pittance as one of my first ever tie purchases when I transitioned to looking like a proper Prof. They tie knots so beautifully that I happily wear them even though they are 3.75 inches wide! I thought I might have gotten lucky, but Stitch, you seem to have had good experiences too.

Borrelli's don't get mentioned as much these days when talking about ties, but I'm a fan, though they are hard to find at a decent price (perhaps shop the finest?). They are, I think, way too expensive new.

i got the one in the SC pic at the borrelli boutique in nyc for a hundo. was 50% off, and id never pay 200 for it.

the other was from STF, i think was 89, a great deal if you ask me, but i dont like most of the borrellis they offer.

they really are known for their shirts, but i have borrelli pants and a SC and ties and have handled some of their outerwear and shoes and it is all absolutely amazing. i love what they do top to bottom.

I got that light blue Barba that Butler liked from Shop The Finest. If you're in LA, you really should go. The in-person is so much better than the site IMO.

re contrasting shoes, I really like strongly contrasting shoes sometimes. For example, I really like the combination of tan cotton suit, white shirt, black tie, and black shoes. I think it looks super graphic and excellent. But, I do tend to favor that high-contrast look with shoes darker rather than lighter.

Cheers for the heads up about STF.

Chinos and black shoes is certainly a military look. So certainly a precedent. Can look sharp but evokes the association.

I love STF. Almost all my shirts are from them and some pants and ties too.

Honestly, it's a pain in the ass. I've needed new shirts for months, and I haven't gotten any because the MTM process sucks. I even went to meet up with Hemrajani a couple of months ago, but when I got to the hotel, he didn't pick up the phone. :fu: Luxire hasn't been able to nail down my fit, so the next step is sending them a shirt to copy, but, again, what a pain in the ass.

Apologies if anyone was missed. Went on autopilot. I did double check for @kulata

Someone was kind enough to add a thumbs up on my posted picture - it had petered out at 19 for the longest time :embar: .

claghorn, are you really wearing a windowpane jacket with glen plaid pants?

Anyway, that suit cerruti is wearing looks like a vintage lesser I have. Easily my most FU suit. I don't think I've worn it in the last five years. Sigh.

Looking more closely, though, it's not the same cloth. His is more F-U than mine.

Have you tried proper cloth? I've had great luck with them. 2 week turnaround time.
