A restrained color scheme, but a very classy background - the atrium of the Morgan Library, an institution virtually in my backyard.

It was my first time there. I really enjoyed it.

On the way to the barber shop this morning.

Napps Of Waterbury ivory silk jacket, Brooks Brothers Button Down Collar Madras shirt and Paisley pocket square, Vineyard Vines belt and trousers, and Bass white bucks.

Walked a little further and saw this.

Spoke with someone and found out there were sixteen of these pianos, all painted different colors, that had just been placed around the city. Was tempted to walk up and down every street until I found the other fifteen. Maybe if it was cooler I would have.

One of my local stores (Tweed) recently brought in some officer-style chinos, and when I picked up my pair they told me they'd also made some safari jackets in the same fabric. We got into a conversation about how you'd wear the jacket and trousers without looking like you were going to a re-enactment of the African theater during WW1...

I took a shot at it by combining it with a linen popover shirt, dressy sneakers (I was planning to wear Belgian loafers - possibly the least war-like shoe I own - but the rain was pouring down today, so the sneakers were more practical) and a cream colored scarf. To be honest I still feel it's too much of a military look for me, so I'll just stick to the chinos.

Also, I think it might be time to trim my beard...

Also, I think it might be time to trim my beard...

I like the safari jacket but not worn with the same color chinos to avoid the "uniform" look, that brings up the WW1 association. Perhaps a lighter color on one of the garments (top or bottom) would provide some desirable contrast.

I like both items. But as OP and @Mercurio stated, it looks like it’s trying to be a casual suit or military cosplay. I would be happy to have both pieces in my wardrobe, just not worn together. The jacket could look great with darker olive chinos, jeans, or a lighter cream trouser.

The chinos are easily wearable and a great color.

PS beard looks good. I don’t see immediate need to trim.

I'm always surprised people don't try safari jackets with jeans. They look great together, and the completely different historical contexts keeps you out of the cosplay/iGent danger zone, while still keeping the vibes similar enough not to clash.
