Kudos to you for carrying the banner for turtlenecks in your recent posts. It is such a flattering, elegant, garment in framing the face, extending the line, and masking any neck deficiencies. I don't really understand why it fell out of fashion, and got associated with the preening, unctuous, academic/writer stereotype. I was around the last time they were common, and I don't recall there being enough examples of the stereotype afoot to kill the style.

It is fascinating to me that magazine articles regularly say that wearing a turtleneck is a "statement" that requires a bold, self confident, individual. I wear them frequently with outwear ( a Barbour, etc.). A bit warm for wearing inside alone in So Cal though, even in winter.
