As an FYI, there is maybe 1/4" of room between my actual shoulders and the seams. Probably more like 1/8".

maybe its just the way the sweater is sitting, because it looks WAY too wide on you.

Can a similar effect be achieved for washed denim?

You obiously are not, but the turtleneck makes you look fat.
You have a big head and the turtleneck emphazises it, which is not a good thing for your build imo.

To a much lesser extent. I bought these washed (evenly, so no fading). They've turned lighter and you can see some fading, but not much:

I have an extra pair of dark denim(washed) that I got for a song on sale so it'd make for an interesting project. Care to show your secrets on achieving a similar effect, nobd?

There are no secrets. I just wash them after, say, 5-7 wears. Regular wash, 40 degrees celsius. No dryer.

Agreed, this is not flattering. I recognise the difficulties in dressing well for a big fella and your usual slim fits solve this problem very well, but too often you look like you are being squeezed out of your collar, and your facial expression is a little disconcerting too. This may well be due to the camera remote catching you in an unflattering moment, but I reckon a smile would go a long way on your pics!
