Blue suede blutchers with no socks and rolled up selvedge denim? Maybe its the pose, or how over dressed you are next to Jack Black on the left there, but that whole thing just screams affected to me.

Imo Bateman dresses very nice and without any affection or tackiness in his outfits.
He is just a tasteful dresser sitting next to a guy of the 99% of population who just don't care.
Destroy guy is even enjoying the conversation with Bateman juding from his grin.
So, keep it up Bateman, you are definitely amongst the best contributors of the recent pages.

I know you didn't post the question to me, but when I wear shorts, I will wear either:

    - Alden unlined flex welt chukka
    - Vans or some other fairly non-descript but lightweight sneaker (J Crew sells a great old school canvas New Balance tennis sneaker that works well with shorts) like a Chuck Taylor
    - Very, very rare occasions? A Sperry topsider

I can honestly say, I don't think I have ever worn a pair of loafers with shorts but then again, I wear loafers once or twice a year anyway, so that may skew things..

There's a very classic, mainstream aesthetic that you are either unfamiliar with, or completely reject. I'm not sure which is the case, because you seem to wholeheartedly dismiss it every time someone posts, yet talk about it like no one in the world abides by it.

As stated above, Fuuma clearly has no idea what he is talking about. Loafers are perfectly acceptable with shorts. I prefer a driving loafer or penny.

I don't consider chukkas a default option with shorts. They can look good, but there's no inherent suitability in the context. Loafers are generally not my thing, but I reject Fuuma's categorical dismissal of their use with shorts. Of course, I'm probably just an MCer who can't dress casually...

The only correct look with shorts is (a) no shoes (b) no shirt.

    Just don't expect service.

Given my average-guy physique, I'll spare everyone my topless looks.
