I greatly appreciate the many valuable critiques, gentlemen, and I hope you don't think I'm dismissing them when I defend my latest fit.

In principle, I agree with those of you who don't like neckties with jeans. But in this particular case, I think the rich texture of the raw silk tie is an excellent complement to the denim. In principle, I agree that bals aren't usually a good choice with jeans. But in this particular case the bals are AE Strands, which are certainly chunky and brogued enough to make up for their closed lacing. In principle, I agree with those who don''t like neckties sans jacket, but on a chilly spring day I see no reason that dressy V-neck sweater can't stand in for a sport coat.

Regarding the comment that the jeans aren't dark enough and look worn out, I can only say, "ridonkulous". Maybe the pic isn't doing them justice, but those are the darkest wash jeans Levis offers, and that particular pair is right now at the sweet spot between looking lived-in and looking worn out.

Thus, I stand by yesterday's fit. :bigstar:

TB, while I wouldn't wear those jeans, I think the fit looks good. I don't know about you, but with the budget cuts our class sizes in NY have skyrocketed. I now have 40 14 years olds with 40 desks and chairs in a room built for 14 year olds in 1920, and 25 of them. I ruined 2 pairs of dress trousers in Sept, and have left the jacket and dress pants home ever since. Hopefully next year my classes will return to normal size and I can get back into jacket and tie for more than just Parent Teacher Conferences. I have been dressing similarly throughout the winter...looks good kid-o.

I like the idea of this fit, but the shirt comes off as too retro for me

Trying to move away from bespoke, medium shirts too small in the chest, large shirts too large in the waist...#firstworldproblems. My wife likes it on me and I didn't feel at all constricted while teaching today so I'll stick with it. Thanks for the feedback...

No, just for casual pants and shirts, which is pretty much all I wear for now. My suiting and sport coats are just hanging there in the closet crying for me to wear them...lol

Yeah, I am definitely getting that. But at this point, I say, fuck it. Everything fits reasonably well, and hey, looking like you got kicked out of Miyagi's on Sunset for getting to drunk with your bros circa 2002 is not such a bad look. At least it's new, again. I say you get some Diesel kicks and just rock out with your cock out.

What is it you don't like about the 505s, Rob? I know you dig cuffs, but there must be more to it than that.

Holy shit! I'll stop complaining about my own class sizes now. My worst situation this year is that I've got a couple of classes of 34 (with seating for only 32), and in one of those classes I have 10 kids with learning disabilities. That sucks, but it pales in comparison. You must feel like :censored:

    Agreed, sb.

EDIT: Apologies for the crotch level photo, I couldn't find something of a more suitable height to balance my phone on.
