I'm curious about your thoughts on proportions.

When I wear wide, high rise trousers with tailoring or chinos the proportions seem to be OK - at least, I've never received any feedback. Is it only with wide, high rise jeans?

Thanks.
Just my two cents of course. I am also very tall (198cm).
Well I noticed that with your high rise Chinos or jeans it gives the impression that you have very long legs and a small torso. I think the balance leg-torso would be much better with mid-rise trousers (I don’t say low rise it is forbidden here :)). Now I also find the too wide legs are not very flattering and that it accentuates the fact that we mainly notice your legs. I noticed that your best fits so far were with more fitted and less high trousers/Chino/jeans. Now I also understand your idea of a 1940s look, so it is just my humble opinion.

Thank you. This is very helpful. It's all about balance and not over-emphasizing anything - in this case the legs.

I think that what you mention is also emphasized by the fact that ppk's pictures are taken from a relatively low angle, so the legs appear longer and bigger.

I think it becomes a balance issue mostly with cotton fabrics, since cotton doesn't drape in the same way as wool does.

I use an iPhone and a tripod and the phone is at about chest height. I'll try it a bit higher.

I agree that the problem is mixing high and low. Workwear chinos + a linen shirt + a thick cotton sweater or jean jacket or chore jacket would probably be a better combination. In cool weather, leather would be good.

Looks better, seems you pulled down the chino a bit, proportions are better. BUT those trous are definitely too wide. Not flattering.
I love those trousers. They are Buzz Rickson Military Chinos. I probably won't wear them with a sport coat, but I'll find ways to wear them with more casual fits.
I think the issue is that those are workwear-style chinos which don't look right combined with a sportcoat and loafers.
Thanks @Iskander. That's good feedback.
